Mark and Jenny doing a vegetation survey of McGee creek. Jason in the sagebrush. Van sale!
After our trip to the hot springs the previous night we get up early and spend a few hours surveying the surrounding vegetation and geology. McGee Creek was our northernmost campsite, now we're headed back south towards the Salton Sea, passing Owens Lake and having lunch at Dry Falls.  We spend a few hours exploring the dry falls and then head on south to camp at red Rock Canyon.
Red Rock Canyon turns out to be rather windy again.  By now we are used to sandy food and the tents weigh an additional three pounds from all that duct tape. The ranger station has a little handout on "How to estimate windspeed from flags", which is duely copied into most field books.
