Today is the day to stretch our legs.  According to some guide book we go on one of the "few easy day hikes in the North Cascades that will bring us above tree line and will allow us to enjoy panoramic vistas and much more..."
We start out from Johannesburg Camp and arrive at North Cascade Pass a few hours later. Yes, that's slow, but just a day before we camped at sea level, and Harford isn't the Himalayas either.  nevertheless, we head up the Sahale Arm, and most of us descend a few thousand feet to take a plunge into Doubtful Lake, while Mark and Prof. Geiss check out Sahale Glacier.  Prof. Morrison and Emily have the good sense to enjoy the view. We are all pretty tired on our way back down.
