Day 5: Olympic Peninsula

group portrait at big cedar hollow tree

We spend an hour visiting the biggest cedar tree in Olympic National Park.  It's only a big stump, but its huge.
The seastacks at Ruby beach are shrouded in mist, lending an unreal atmosphere to the coast and its rock formations.  The mist clears away as we reach the Hoh rainforest and we spend a sunny afternoon walking the Hall of Mosses trail and along the Hoh river.
Our campsite at Willoughby creek is right at the Hoh river.  The river provides some of the entertainment that evening: a family of otters.
