Day 1:  Hartford - Salt Lake City - Stansbury Mountains

SLC airport A long flight takes us from Hartford to Salt Lake City.  While we are waiting for professor Morrison to pick up our rental van we are basking in the sun in front of the airport terminal.  The woman at the supermarket checkout finds nothing unusual about my nine "kids", offers advice regarding their education,  comments on the copious amounts of food we buy, and shares tips on "how to get them out of the house, so they won't eat the hair off your head".

We camped at South Willow Canyon, at an elevation of about 12,000 ft. Yes, it was as cold as it looks , but the fire gods worked hard to change that. We noticed that we forgot to buy white gas for the stoves.  Again, we are bailed out by a good old campfire. Our brand new pot took on a distinctively seasoned appearance.  Thanks to a very efficient kitchen team we enjoyed a great dinner of pasta and mixed greens salad and survived a pretty frosty night.
