Magnetic Mineralogy 1: Thermal Demagnetization of low-T IRM

Magnetic mineralogy was characterized by observing characteristic phase transitions occurring below room temperature, IRM acquisition curves and S-ratios . The figure to the right shows thermal demagnetization curves of an IRM acquired at 5K in a field of 5T. All samples show a distinct Verwey transition near 120 K, indicating the presence of magnetite. thermal demagnetization curves
