Letter to the Editor: Accusations Of Racism Still Stand

To the Editor:

It has been brought to my attention that my Faculty Opinion column from two weeks ago might have been off base in the sense that I was criticizing President Dobelle for his remarks on the "State of the College," when in actuality he had not intended for his comments to be framed as such by The Tripod.

To me, however, the framing of the President's comments are not as important as what he left out of them. The essence of my observation remains intact: if the President as spun an image of his efforts and Trinity's atmosphere as being diverse and concerned with issues of diversity, his comments in any context where the College as a whole is addressed should include the presence and issues of people of color.
