was told to put together my thoughts on the semester that will soon come to a close. To be honest, I can not really think of that much. I have been real busy trying to do this senior year/double major type thing. It is a real pain in the you know what. But, this semester, Journal-wise, has gone off without a hitch. For those who feared the Journal would not survive without the good Mr. Adams and Mr. Tedesco I have one thing to say. Ha! The Journal looks as good, if not better than ever. We still have some of the best graphics being produced on the web. And, as I have said all to many times in the past, I still think the Patriots suck. So, the following are my brief thoughts on what has happened since the Journal switched over to the web. I think it is really amazing.
Just over two years ago, Pete Adams walked into the Journal office, then situated in the basement of Mather Hall, and told his staff of five or six people about a program called NCSA Mosaic. I think Frank knew what he was talking about, but I had absolutely no clue. I thought Hypercard was cool, even in its limited capacity. But Pete had visions for the Journal. He saw a day when anyone in the world, with a computer and internet access, could see our work from just about anywhere. Within a week, that vision came true. I had only begun to learn of the possibilities of the World Wide Web. Now the WWW has blossomed. Everyone knows what it is. It has become a vehicle for information of all sorts, be it a multi-media magazine, corporate strategies, sports updates, or classroom learning. Now, many commercials on television have a web address listed. Just look for the HTTP://www.anything.com on the bottom. You can find information on anything from Motorola pagers to Nabisco snacks. Here are some of my favorite sites...
