*Falling Awake* is an 80,000-word SF story set in present-day Southern California. In the spirit of Kurt Vonnegut and Ray Bradbury, this character-oriented story updates such SF elements as alien contact and time travel . The main protagonist, Brian Johnson, is a young man forced to confront his own past while caught up in the machinations of two aliens marooned on Earth. Leah Steinitz and Abe Salvatori, Brian's friends, also struggle to survive the violent eruptions in their lives caused by unsuspected enmeshment with these aliens trying to get home.
