If you have yet to decide on a major, thinking about what you want to do after graduation seems like a distant concern, but sophomore year is the time to position yourself for competitive internships, future advanced study, and entry level job opportunities.
Hopefully you have heard that the National Alumni Association and the Career Services Office are offering you a unique opportunity during your sophomore year to help you get this all under control – and land that post-grad job when the time comes!
The Bantam Sophomore Success Program will provide you with specific skills and tools to develop your academic and career interests as well as to strengthen your ability to secure opportunities that will help you achieve your educational, professional, and social goals. As a part of the program, you will be assigned a career advisor, develop a polished resume, participate in a workshop to help you “build your brand”, and have the opportunity to network with accomplished Trinity alumni.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The Class of 2012 has two opportunities to take advantage of this program –
September 3-4, 2009 and January 21-22, 2010.
Both sessions are scheduled for the Thursday and Friday before the semester begins so that you are able to commit your time and energy to the program without the competing priorities of classes and coursework.
The Fall 2009 Bantam Sophomore Success Program will be held off-campus
at the Residence Inn hotel in downtown Hartford.
Transportation will be provided from the Trinity campus to the hotel on Wednesday, September 2nd. You must use College provided transportation to and from the hotel. Programming will begin Wednesday evening; students will return to campus at the conclusion of the program on Friday afternoon, September 4th. Please note that you will not have access to your dorm room until Friday. Secure, on-campus storage will be provided in Gallows for any personal belongings you need to store Wednesday through Friday. However, due to space constraints, we do ask that if at all possible, you make arrangements to bring anything you will not need during the program to campus on Saturday when upperclassmen move-in.
Space for the Fall 2009 program is limited to 66 students and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Based on the strong response for the pilot program in January 2009, we do anticipate having a wait list, so register now to ensure your participation!
Please complete the online registration form by Wednesday, July 15th. http://offices.trincoll.edu/depts_career/Bantam%20Sophmore%20Success.htm

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………As you know, the current job market is a tough one, but we are confident that if you start now, you will be well positioned for success after graduation. What We Do:
Building on the solid and wide-ranging foundation of a liberal arts education, the Career Services Office at Trinity provides resources to assist students in launching a successful career and augmenting their classroom experience. Regardless of the field of interest, Career Services offers a wealth of programs and services designed to help students to identify and prepare for career opportunities.
All students can use TrinityRecruiting, a personalized, online career system that provides 24-hour access to password protected summer and full-time job listings, graduate school programs and fellowships, interview schedules, and career information. Students are connected with potential employers through on-campus interviews, off-campus recruiting events, electronic resume collections and video-conferencing. Students take advantage of individual career advising, career seminars, and graduate and professional school application assistance. And, probably most valued of all, is Trinity’s extensive network of alumni who offer first-hand advice as well as networking events on campus and in major cities.
