Here's a variety of web sites related to wellness.
We hope this site will be truly interactive, so if you have
recommendations for other sites for this list, or for other
kinds of information that would be helpful, please email wellness@trincoll.edu. Thanks.
As the year progresses, this site will have many kinds of
wellness information available, so check back often.
Wellness Site of the Week:
http://www.skincheck.com/
This website was established after the death of a 26 year
old male to melanoma (skin cancer) by his family who asks
that the website be visited to learn about the dangers of
melanoma. The site focuses on early detection of melanoma
by self exam (how to's) to detect the disease while it is
curable.
WHY:
1. among 25-29 year age group melanoma is the most prevalent
cancer increasing by 4% annually.
2. in a 1996 survey 74 % of people 18-24 years old have little
or no knowledge about this killer or how to check for it.
