The First-Year Program at Trinity College is designed to
integrate the academic and residential life of first-year
students. The Program includes first-year seminars which are
designed to train students to write, discuss, and think critically.
In the seminars, students explore an intellectually challenging
topic with 12 - 15 of their classmates. Seminar instructors
serve as the academic advisor students use until they declare
a major, usually in the fourth semester at Trinity. An upperclass
peer mentor supports the students in each seminar, providing
general academic assistance, including writing, computing,
and advising support in the classroom and residence hall.
Beyond the classroom, the First-Year Program introduces students
to the academic resources of the College and the Hartford
community.
