Baseball takes NESCAC title, extends wins to 37-0
Sophomore CF Matt Sullivan went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI to lead the Bantams to an 11-8 win over the visiting Amherst College Lord Jeffs in the finals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Baseball Championship Tournament on May 11. Trinity improved to 37-0, extending the nation’s best-ever Division III baseball season start, and earned its second NESCAC crown with a 3-0 record in the double-elimination tournament. The Bantams qualified automatically for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Trinity last won the league title in 2003.
Since publication of the spring Reporter, the baseball team finished its most successful season ever, bringing home the Div. III National Title in the NCAA Div. III National Championship Tournament. The Bantams edged out the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays 5-4 and finished as the No. 1-ranked team in the nation in the D3Baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) National Rankings.
Five members of the Trinity College baseball team who missed their Commencement for the final games of the NCAA Championship received their diplomas in a special event during the National Alumni Association meeting over Reunion Weekend. Watch the video.
