TRINITY FINISHES FOURTH AT NEW ENGLAND
WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Amherst, Mass. - Junior Karen Huebner (Burlington, Mass.) won three out of four singles matches and combined with sophomore Diana Goldman (Milton, Mass.) to win two out of three doubles matches, reaching the semi-finals of her flight in both, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a fourth-place finish in the New England Division III Intercollegiate Women's Tennis Championships this weekend at Amherst College. Trinity finished with 19 points, which was 7.5 points behind third-place Tufts and four points ahead of fifth-place Wellesley. Amherst won the title with 43 points.

Huebner, seeded No. 3 in the No. 5 singles flight, won all three of her early matches in straight sets before succumbing to top seed and eventual champion Jasmine Bradley, of Williams, in the semi-finals. At No. 3 doubles, No. 3-seeded Huebner/Goldman outscored its three early opponents, 26-3, but dropped an 8-2 decision against the No. 2-seeded team.

Junior co-captain Courtney Sargeant (Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Diana Dreyfus (Scarsdale, N.Y.) also reached the semi-final round of their respective singles flights. Sargeant, seeded No. 2 in the No. 4 singles flight, won two matches in straight sets before losing to No. 3 seed and eventual champion Wallis Molchen, of Bowdoin. Dreyfus, unseeded at No. 3 singles, ousted all three of her opponents in straight sets as well. Dreyfus lost her semi-final match to No. 1 seed and eventual champion Rachel Holt, of Amherst.
