AMHERST DEFEATS TRINITY IN WOMEN’S TENNIS
Hartford, Conn.- Junior Susanna Burke (St. Louis, Mo.) won the No. 2 singles in three sets to lead the visiting Amherst College Lady Jeffs to a 5-4 win over the Trinity College Bantams in the season-opening women's tennis match for both teams this afternoon.
The Bantams won three of the six singles matches, including a three-set victory by sophomore Karen Huebner (Burlington, Mass.) at No. 5 and a straight-set triumph by Trinity sophomore No.1 Diana Goldman (Milton, Mass.). Bantam sophomore Sarah Krueger (Burlington, Vt.) and freshman Diana Dreyfus (Scarsdale, N.Y.) combined for their first collegiate doubles win together, 9-7, at No. 2, but the Jeffs took the other two doubles matches, both by 9-7 scores, to clinch the victory.
