Cambridge, Mass. - Freshman Amina Helal (Manchester, England) advanced to the final round of the Women's Intercollegiate Squash Association (WISA) Singles Championships this weekend at Harvard University.

Helal, seeded No. 2 in the tournament field, lost in the final round, 3-1, to No. 1-seeded Julia Beaver, of Princeton. She won four matches to reach the finals, including a 3-0 triumph over Trinity senior captain Janine Thompson (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) in the semifinals.

Thompson won three matches, including a 3-1 victory over No. 4-seeded Olga Puidgmont-Sola, of Cornell, in the quarterfinals. Bantam sophomore Clare Austin (Banbury, England) and freshman Pamela Saunders (Harrare, Zimbabwe) each lost in the third round, while Saunders went on to the consolation III semifinal before losing a 3-0 decision in the semifinal match.

Several other Trinity players competed in the Pool Consolation B Championship after suffering Championship bracket defeats, and junior Mollie Anderson (Buffalo, N.Y.) captured the Consolation I title with four victories.
