TRINITY WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES AT SMITH
Northampton, Mass.- Senior
forward Hannah Wenzel (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) and sophomore forward
Wrynn McInnis (Floyd Knobs, Ind.) scored goals to lead the Smith College
Pioneers to a 2-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in women’s
soccer action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 3-3-1 with its third consecutive
loss, while Smith improves to 6-3.
After a scoreless first half, Wenzel and McInnis scored in the 48th
and 75th minutes, respectively to give the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage.
Bantam sophomore forward Leah Felis (Stowe, Vt.) finally netted a goal
with 10:16 remaining in the game on an assist by junior midfielder Rachel
Tracy (North Easton, Mass.), but Trinity was unable to tie the score the
rest of the way. Two goalies combined for just two saves for Smith, while
sophomore Katherine Mahoney (Wellesley, Mass.) had six stops for the
Bantams.
