TRINITY WOMEN'S SOCCER TIES MIDDLEBURY
Middlebury, Vt.- Freshman midfielder Chelsea King (Huntington, N.Y.) scored her first career goal to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-2 tie against the Middlebury College Panthers in its New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer opener this afternoon. Trinity improves to 1-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the NESCAC, while the Panthers are 0-0-1 overall and in the league.
King and sophomore forward Nicole Mauger (East Bridgewater, Mass.) each scored for Trinity, including the game's first score by King on a feed by classmate Kristen Geiger (Canterbury, N.H.) five minutes into the contest. After the Panthers tied the score shortly after halftime, Mauger shored the ball off the hand of Middlebury goalie Els Van Woert (Shelburne, Vt.) at the 65:51 mark. Middlebury junior middie Amanda Green (Lexington, Mass.) tied the score with 6:36 remaining on her second goal of the game. Bantam sophomore goalkeeper Brenna Shields (Cutchogue, N.Y.) had six saves and Van Woert had three.
