SHIELDS RECORDS SHUTOUT IN
TRINITY WOMEN'S SOCCER VICTORY
Hartford,Conn.- The Trinity College Bantams opened the season with a 3-0 shutout of the visiting Manhattanville Valiants in women's soccer action this afternoon. Sophomore goalkeeper Brenna Shields (Cutchogue, N.Y.) had eight saves in the victory for the Bantams who improve to 1-0 on the season.
Junior striker Courtney Doyle (West Simsbury,Conn.) opened the scoring for Trinity with a blast from 20 yards out in the 26th minute of action. Bantam freshman Caitlin Buzzell (Manchester, Conn.) scored her first collegiate goal following an outstanding touch pass from sophomore Nicole Mauger (East Bridgewater, Mass.) at 53:53 into the game. Leah Felis (Stowe, Vt.) also a sophomore closed out the scoring for Trinity in the 80th minute of the game, on an assist from freshman Kristen Geiger (Canterbury, N.H.).
Manhattanville drops to 1-3 on the season following the loss. Senior goalkeeper Liz
McNamee (West Hartford, Conn.) gave a valiant effort saving 17 of Trinity's
43 shots to almost single handedly keeping Manhattanville in the game.
