WOMEN’S SOCCER IN OVERTIME
Trinity finishes the regular season with a 7-7 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the NESCAC, while Middlebury, ranked No. 7 in New England, finishes its regular season at 10-4 and 6-3 in the league. The result sets up a first round rematch in the NESCAC Championship Tournament tomorrow at Bates College. Trinity, seeded No. 7 in the seven-team field will play No. 2-seeded Middlebury at 11 a.m. on Bates’ Russell Street Field. No. 3 Amherst (8-4-1, 5-3-1 in the NESCAC) will play No. 6 Tufts (8-6, 5-4 in the NESCAC) and No. 4 Bowdoin (10-3-1, 5-3-1 in the NESCAC) will play No. 5 Bates (10-3-1, 5-3-1 in the NESCAC), both at 1:30 p.m. at Bates.
The game was scoreless throughout the first half and most of the second until Trinity freshman forward Nicole Mauger (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored for the Bantams at the 81:44 mark. Middlebury stormed right back, scoring a goal of their own two minutes later. Panther junior Leah Cumsky-Whitlock (Newton, Mass.) tied the game on a penalty kick. In overtime, Gayman netted the clincher on a pass by junior forward Meg Bonney (Norwich, Vt.).
