TRINITY WOMEN’S SOCCER BEATS COLBY
Hartford, Conn.- Sophomore forward Courtney Doyle (West Simsbury, Conn.) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 18:20 remaining, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 win over the visiting Colby College White Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference action this afternoon. Trinity, which wins its second game in a row, improves its season record to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC. Colby falls to 5-2-1 and 2-2-1 in the league with its first loss in the last seven games.Colby opened the scoring late in the first half on an unassisted goal by senior midfielder Elizabeth Rice (Norfolk, Va.), but Bantam senior tri-captain Kerry Hood (Londonderry, N.H.) answered with an unassisted goal in the 51st minute to tie the score.
Doyle gave Trinity the lead and added an insurance goal on a feed from classmate Lindsay Aquilina (Buffalo, N.Y.) with five minutes remaining. Bantam freshman Brenna Shields (Cutchogue, N.Y.) made seven saves, and White Mule senior goalie Abby Kussell (Weston, Mass.) stopped nine Bantam shots.
