TRINITY WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS OUT COAST GUARD

New London, Conn. - Freshman forward Nicole Mauger (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 win over the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears in women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity evens its season record at 1-1 with its first win of the season, while the Bears fall to 0-2.

Mauger opened the scoring on an unassisted goal with 1:53 left in the first half as Trinity carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. Bantam sophomore Lindsay Aquilina (Buffalo, N.Y.) gave the Bantams a 2-0 lead 8:40 into the second half, assisted by Mauger, who then added her second goal of the game on a penalty kick with 15:20 remaining in the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Brenna Shields (Cutchogue, N.Y.) made seven saves for Trinity in recording her first career victory and shutout for the Bantams, while sophomore Joan Pavlish (Wichita, Kan.) also tallied seven saves for Coast Guard.
