TRINITY WOMEN'S SOCCER SHOCKS AMHERST
Amherst, Mass. - Junior back Meghan Roscio (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the Amherst College Lady Jeffs in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s soccer action this afternoon.
Trinity, which snaps a two-game losing streak, improves to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC, while Amherst, ranked No. 3 in New England and No. 19 in the nation, loses for the first time in five games to fall to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Trinity fell behind early on a goal by Lady Jeff freshman forward Tracy Motigny (East Granby, Conn.) 2:00 into the game, but quickly knotted the score at 1-1 on an unassisted score by freshman forward Nicole Mauger (East Bridgewater, Mass.).
Roscio scored the game-winner and her first career goal on an assist by sophomore forward Courtney Doyle (West Simsbury, Conn.). Trinity senior tri-captain goalkeeper Sarah Bradley (Mansfield, Conn.) made six saves, while Amherst senior tri-captain goalie Hallison Putnam (Lexington, Ky.) stopped three Bantam shots.
