BATES DEFEATS TRINITY WOMEN’S SOCCER

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore midfielder Melissa Ostuni (Lynnfield, MA) scored the game’s first goal to lead the visiting Bates College Bobcats to a 2-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s soccer action this afternoon.

Trinity’s record is now 2-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league, while Bates improved to an impressive 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in the NESCAC. Bates was ranked No. 6 in New England entering today’s game.

Ostuni scored at the 20:52 mark and freshman Kristy Crawford (Derry, NH) tallied another for Bates 1:05 later, making the score, 2-0. Trinity freshman Lindsay Aquilina (Buffalo, NY) scored late in the second half to close the gap, but it was not enough.

Trinity junior goalkeeper Sarah Bradley (Mansfield, Conn.) made 11 saves, while Kim Martell (Needham, Mass.) had six for the Bobcats.
