New London, Conn. - Junior co-captain Wesley Connell (Simsbury, Conn.) and sophomore David Bucco (Paramus, N.J.) both won four matches on the day in their weight classes, at 165 and 157 pounds, respectively, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 29-15 win over the Bridgewater State College Bears in the finals of the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Dual Meet Championships at the United States Coast Guard Academy this afternoon. Trinity also posted victories over Southern Maine, Rhode Island College, and Norwich en route to the finals, upping their season record to 14-2.

In the opening match, Trinity dominated Southern Maine, 35-6, highlighted by pins from Connell, Bucco, and freshman Mark Romero (Ridgewood, N.J.) in the 141-pound weight class. The second match of the day paired the Bantams off with Rhode Island College. The Bantams won again, 24-16, in which senior 174-pounder Lucas McKittrick (Lincolnville, Maine) pinned his opponent in the fourth minute of the match.

In the semi-final match against the Norwich University Cadets, the Bantams lost the first four matches and trailed, 19-0, before Bucco took the mat in the 157-weight class. Bucco defeated his opponent to get the Bantams on the scoreboard and Trinity went on to take the final five matches and a 25-19 triumph. Highlights of the match included pins by Connell in the 165-weight class, and sophomore Matt Webster (Foxboro, Mass.) in the 197-weight class.

The Bantams again dominated the championship match, making quick work of Bridgewater State beginning with a 17-4 win by junior 125-pounder Warren Wong (Saratoga, Calif.) The Bantams never looked back, winning five of the next six matches with pins by Connell and McKittrick.
