TRINITY WRESTLING SPLITS TRI-MATCH

Hartford, Conn.- Senior captain Riad deFreitas (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Lucas McKittrick (Lincolnville, Maine) each won both their matches to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a split of their opponents in a dual season-opening tri-match this afternoon with the Western New England College Golden Bears and the Norwich University Cadets.

DeFreitas won, 10-6, against his Western New England opponent at 157 pounds and McKittrick downed his Golden Bear adversary, 16-4, at 174 pounds as Trinity won a 31-21 decision with several wrestlers competing a class heavier than usual. Sophomore 141-pounder Mark Foresi (West Springfield, Mass.) dominated in his season debut, winning a 16-6 match against his Golden Bear opponent.

The pair dropped back down to their regular weight classes against Norwich. DeFreitas won at 149 pounds, 5-1, and McKittrick posted a 6-0 victory at 165 pounds in a 33-15 loss to the Cadets. The Cadets also defeated Western New England, 57-32, to go 2-0 for the day.
