TRINITY FINISHES FIFTH AT NEW ENGLAND
DUALS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Springfield, Mass. - Senior captain Riad deFreitas (Silver Spring, Md.) won all three of his matches in dominating fashion to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 record and a fifth-place finish in the New England College Conference Wrestling Association Duals Championships at Springfield College this afternoon.

The Bantams defeated the University of Southern Maine, 39-9, in the first round and lost to No. 2 Norwich, 30-16, in the second round. Trinity rebounded with a 27-15 win over Rhode Island College in the third round and a 27-21 triumph over Plymouth State College in the fifth-place match. Trinity, ranked No. 8 in the New England Division III Coaches' Poll, are now 8-6.

DeFreitas pinned two opponents and won by technical fall in his third match at 149 pounds, while fellow senior captain Michael Marcucio (Derby, Conn.) won three matches at 133 pounds and freshman Michael Doros (Simsbury, Conn.) won a pair of matches at 184 pounds and a third at 197 pounds for the Bantams.
