JACKSON HOLDS OFF TRINITY WOMEN’S LAX IN NESCAC TOURNEY FIRST ROUND

 Williamstown, Mass.  – Senior goalie Abi Jackson (Jamiaca Plain, Mass.) made 15 saves and allowed just four goals to lead the Williams College Ephs to an 10-4 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in the first round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament.

Trinity, seeded No. 6 in the tournament field and ranked No. 17 in the nation, finishes the season with a 9-7 overall record, while the No. 3-seeded Ephs, ranked No. 2 in New England and No. 8 in the nation, improve to 10-2 and will face No. 2-seeded Amherst in the semifinals next Saturday at top-seeded Middlebury.  Amherst downed No. 7 seed Wesleyan, 15-9, in its first round contest, and No. 4-seeded Colby edged No. 5-seeded Bowdoin in the other first round game.

 Jackson held Trinity to just one goal in the first half, while senior midfielder Kathryn Doherty (Weston, Mass.) had a team-high four goals for the Ephs.  Bantam sophomore attacker Beatrice Gratry (Hunting Valley, Ohio) scored twice, while senior attacker Laura Davis (Bethesda, Md.) and sophomore middie Bliss Geisel (Gladwyne, Pa.) found the net once.  Trinity junior netminder Alexandra Benjamin (Weston, Mass.) made 10 saves .
