Hartford Conn. - Senior attack Laura Davis (Bethesda, Md.) scored the go-ahead goal with 10:58 remaining in the game to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 10-8 win over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s lacrosse action this afternoon at Robin L. Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 16 in the nation, improves to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Jumbos drop to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the NESCAC.

The Bantams started the game with a quick goal :27 into the contests by senior midfielder Katelyn Bowman (Summit, N.J.), but Tufts tallied four unanswered goals, including two by junior attack Willow Hagge (Portland, Maine), to take a 4-1 lead with five minutes left in the half. In the last three minutes before intermission, Bowman and Davis put two scores in for the Bantams to cut the lead to one at the break.

Tufts scored three of the next four goals to take a 7-4 lead, but the Bantams netted six straight goals to lead, 10-7. Trinity junior middie Betsy Walsh (North Kingstown, R.I.) tied the score at 7-7 on an assist by freshman midfielder Catherine Neil (Longmeadow, Mass.) at the 13:26 mark. Bantam sophomore attack Bea Gratry (Hunting Valley, Ohio) found a streaking Davis who shot quickly past Tufts senior co-captain Ari Kristan (South Windsor, Conn.) to put Trinity ahead to stay. Miller and Gratry extended the Trinity lead to three goals before Tufts pulled within a pair of scores on a nice shot past Trinity junior goalie Alexandra Benjamin (Weston, Mass.) by freshman attack Ryan Killeen (Lewes, Del.).

Benjamin finished with nine saves and Kristan made 16 saves for the Jumbos. Davis paced Trinity with three goals and Gratry notched two goals and two assists, while Hagge scored three times for Tufts.
