TRINITY WOMEN'S LACROSSE LOSES
FIRST GAME AT AMHERST

Amherst, Mass. - Senior attacker Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, Mass.) notched three goals and three assists to lead the Amherst College Lady Jeffs to an 11-6 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Hitchcock Field. Trinity, ranked No. 13 in the nation, loses its first game of the season to fall to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC, while the Jeffs, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.

The Bantams jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by senior midfielder Elizabeth Miller (Weston, Mass.) and sophomore attacker Beatrice Gratry (Hunting Valley, Ohio). The Jeffs countered with strikes from Ouimet and junior midfielder Jackie Sargent (Concord, Mass.), knotting the score at 2-2. Amherst netted three of the next four goals to take a 5-3 advantage at the break.
The Jeffs extended the lead to 8-3 early in the second half, and the team's traded scores for the rest of the way for an 11-6 final score. Gratry scored three goals for the Bantams with an assist, while sophomore midfielder Bliss Geisel (Gladwynne, Pa.) and senior attacker Laura Davis (Bethesda, Md.) tallied two helpers apiece. Amherst senior tri-captain Brooke Diamond (Longmeadow, Mass.) outdueled Bantam junior Alexandra Benjamin (Weston, Mass.) in goal with 12 saves to 10 for Benjamin.
