Sports update, women's lacrosse at Williams, 4/15/00


WILLIAMS BEATS TRINITY WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Williamstown, MA - Senior tri-captain midfielder Cara Shortsleeve (Belmont,
MA) scored four goals and had one assist to lead the Williams Ephs to a 12-4
win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College
Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action this afternoon.  Trinity falls
to 3-5 and 2-4 in the NESCAC while Williams remains perfect at 7-0 and 4-0
in the league.
	Williams scored four early goals before senior captain midfielder
Jess Martin (Alexandria, VA) scored the first of her three goals 10:56 into
the contest.  Williams score again for a 5-1 halftime advantage, however.  
	The Ephs tacked on seven more goals in the second half, while Martin
and sophomore attack Anna Sullivan (Woodstock, VT) accounted for the three
Trinity scores.  Bantam senior goalkeeper Kate Derosier (Longmeadow, MA)
fell one save short of her own College single-game record with 27 saves as
Trinity was outshot, 39-12.  Freshman backstop Abigail Jackson (Jamaica
Plain, MA) had eight saves for the Ephs.
