Sports update, women's lacrosse vs. Wesleyan, 4/12/00
TRINITY TROUNCES WESLEYAN IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Hartford, CT - Sophomores Anna Sullivan (Woodstock, VT) and Ashley Taylor
(Washington, DC) scored six goals each to lead the Trinity College Bantams
to a 16-4 win over the visiting Wesleyan University cardinals in New England
Small College Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action this afternoon.
Trinity College ups their record to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the
NESCAC and Wesleyan falls to 3-5 and 0-2 in the league
Trinity struck the first blow, opening up an early 5-1 lead at the
12 minute mark of the first half. Wesleyan was unable to respond and
Trinity extended its advantage to 10-2 at halftime. The second half was more
of the same, with the Bantams eventually winning 16-4.
The Cardinal goals were scored by seniors Andrea McKnight (Falmouth,
MA) and Jenny Kravitz (Guilford, CT), junior Carlin Aloe (Pittsburgh, PA),
and sophomore Sarabeth Broder-Fingert (Newton, MA). Goalie Ali Liebowitz
(Purchase, NY) made six saves and Lynn Model (Scarsdale, NY) made five saves
in a losing effort for Wesleyan.
Sullivan and Taylor both set new career-highs for their six goal
efforts. Senior Melissa Marlette (Buffalo, NY) scored a goal and tallied two
assists, while senior goalkeeper Kate Derosier (Longmeadow, MA) stopped 11
shots.
