TRINITY WOMEN'S LACROSSE ERUPTS WITH BIG WIN AT BATES
Lewiston, Maine -- Sophomore Anna Sullivan (Woodstock, VT) scored a
career-high five goals to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a
17-4 win over the Bates College Bobcats in New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse action on Lafayette Street
Field today.
Trinity (2-4, 1-3 NESCAC) got the first three goals of the game from
freshman attack Laura Davis (Bethesda, MD). Bates (1-4, 0-2 NESCAC) closed
the gap to 3-2 with 5:42 left in the first half on goals by junior Erin
Flynn (Newton, NJ) and sophomore Liz Coulson (Devon, PA).
The Bantams looked to take a four-goal cushion into the half on
tallies by Sullivan and senior captain Jess Martin (Alexandria, VA), the
last coming with 27 seconds remaining, but Coulson beat Trinity goalkeeper
Kate Derosier (Longmeadow, MA) with three seconds left to cut the lead to
6-3 at the break.
Coulson scored again less than four minutes into the second half,
but Trinity kept the Bobcats off the board for the rest of the game, while
scoring 11 unanswered goals. Martin had three goals and two assists for five
points. Coulson's three goals led the Bobcats. Derosier made seven saves in
the winning effort while Bates sophomore Jen Strahle (Ridgewood, NJ) had 26
saves.
