TRINITY WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY TIES COLBY

West Hartford, Conn.- Freshman forward Elizabeth Goldsmith (Long Lake, Minn.) was one of four goal scorers for her team and added an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-4 tie against the visiting Colby College White Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s ice hockey action this afternoon at Kingswood-Oxford Rink. Trinity is now 1-6-1 overall and in the NESCAC, while the Mules move to 6-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the league.

The game was played evenly throughout with neither team gaining more than a one goal lead. The Bantams trailed, 3-2, entering the third period, when Goldsmith tied the score at 3-3 from classmate Jessica Keeley (Scituate, Mass.) 3:51 into the frame. Bantam sophomore forward Kristy Hadeka (Castleton, Vt.) gave Trinity the lead on an unassisted score 15 seconds later, but the White Mules tied the score for good less than two minutes after that on the second goal of the day by junior defense Kate Sweeney (Milton, Mass.).

Junior tri-captain goalie Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) made 24 saves for Trinity, and sophomore Lynn Hasday (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) made 30 stops for Colby. White Mule senior tri-captain defense Lauren Gremelspacher (Granby, Conn.) notched a goal and an assist.
