BORAWSKI GOALS GIVE TRINITY WOMEN'S
ICE HOCKEY TIE AGAINST AMHERST
West Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams forced a 3-3 tie with the visiting Amherst College Lady Jeffs on a goal by freshman Tara Borawski (Simsbury, Conn.), her second of the game, at 16:43 of the third period. The tie brings Trinity’s record to 2-8-2 overall and in the NESCAC, and gives Amherst a mark of 1-8-3 in the NESCAC and 1-11-4 overall.
Amherst was led by senior captain, Danielle Williams (Needham, Mass.), who notched a goal and an assist for the Jeffs, while senior co-captain goaltender Heidi Alexander (Edina, Minn.) anchored Amherst’s defense with 21 saves.
Trinity opened the scoring in the game on a goal by sophomore defense Elizabeth Jakes (Roseville, Minn.), but was frustrated by the Amherst defense until midway through the third period. At 9:22 of the third, Borawski scored her first goal of the game on an assist from classmates Jessica Keely (Scituate, Mass.) and Elizabeth Goldsmith (Long Lake, Minn.). Junior tri-captian Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had 28 saves in goal for the Bantams.
