TRINITY WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY UPSETS WILLIAMS

West Hartford, Conn. - Freshman Kristy Hadeka (Castelton, Vt.) had two goals and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Williams College Ephs in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Kingswood-Oxford Rink. Trinity improves to 5-13 overall and finishes its NESCAC season at 4-12. Williams, ranked No. 9 in the nation, falls to 12-8-1 overall and 9-5 in the NESCAC.

Following a scoreless first period, the Bantams got on the board first, when Hadeka converted a pass from freshman Victoria Fox (Locust Valley, N.Y.) to open the scoring. Williams, however, scored consecutive goals just minutes apart, both on the power play to take the lead. Gigi Stender (Chicago, Ill.) scored first with assists from Molly Wasserman (Minetonka, Minn.) and Karen Thome (Wayzata, Minn.) at 11:26 of the period. The trio combined again for the second Eph score, this time with Wasserman netting the goal with help from Stender and Thome at 14:24.

Trinity opened the third with a goal by Katelyn Bowman (Summit, N.J.) from Hadeka and Fox to tie the score just 3:19 into the period. Then, a turnover by Eph goalie Anna MacIntosh (Fredericton, New Brunswick) led to the winning score by Hadeka at 9:58.

Both goalies played well in net, with MacIntosh posting 13 saves, and Trinity goalie Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) turning back 44 shots.
