AMHERST NIPS TRINITY WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY

Amherst, Mass. - Sophomore forward Tory Serues (Cambridge, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with 2:39 remaining in the second period and added an assist in the game-tying score to lead the Amherst College Lady Jeffs to a 2-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s ice hockey action this evening. Trinity falls to 3-12 overall and 2-10 in the NESCAC with its second straight loss. Amherst improves to 5-12 overall and 4-11 in the league with its first win in the last three games.

Trinity drew first blood 18:06 into the game on a close wrist shot by senior captain defender Jessica Martin (Fort Myers, Fla.). The Jeffs tied the score at the 7:28 mark of the second frame, when junior forward Danielle Williams (Needham, Mass.) scored on a breakaway. Serues netted the clincher on a rebound off a shot by Amherst freshman forward Ellie Roe (Edina, Minn.).

The Bantams peppered Amherst junior goalie Heidi Alexander (Edina, Minn.) with 33 shots, 32 of which she turned away. Trinity sophomore goalie Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) made 29 saves.
