BOWDOIN BEATS TRINITY WOMEN ON THE ICE
Brunswick, Maine - Freshman forward Jill McDonald (Hudson, Quebec) had two goals and an assist to lead the Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 10-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 1-18-3 and 1-15-1 in the ECAC with their third straight loss, while Bowdoin, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to 15-3-3 overall and 11-3-3 in the league.
Bowdoin scored early and often in a dominant offensive performance, totaling seven goals in the opening frame. Freshman defenseman Kirsten Larsen (Dover, Mass.) netted the first two Polar Bear scores in the opening 3:38, and McDonald score a goal and assisted on a second in the first period.
Trinity freshman goalie Meredith MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) held Bowdoin scoreless in the second period, and Bantam sophomore forward Katelyn Bowman (Summit, N.J.) scored 9:03 into the third from classmate Lindsay Peet (Stowe, Vt.). The Polar Bears answered with three goals in the next 4:17, and finished with 51 shots versus just five for Trinity.
