WESLEYAN SHUTS OUT TRINITY WOMEN ON THE ICE

Middletown, Conn. - Senior goaltender Emma DeSimone (Saco, Maine) eight saves over 40 minutes to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 5-0 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in non-conference women's ice hockey action this evening. The Bantams are now 0-6-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), while Wesleyan is 4-6 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Wesleyan outshot Trinity, 56-13, and had five different goal scorers. Three Cardinal forwards, junior Jessica Ziemian (Westwood, Mass.), sophomore Kiersten Von Trapp (Stowe, Vt.), and freshman Andrea Snow (Amherst, N.H.) notched a goal and an assist each, while freshman defense Tasha Clauson (Hanover, N.H.) had two assists.

Freshman Blair Kurtz (Encino, Calif.) made 35 saves in her first collegiate start in goal for the Bantams. Classmate Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) minded the net in the third period, stopping 16 of 17 Cardinal shots.
