MACKINNON HELPS TRINITY WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY TIE UNIONWest Hartford, Conn. - Freshman Meredith MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) made 32 saves over 65 minutes to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-2 tie against the visiting Union College Dutchwomen at Kingswood Oxford rink this afternoon. The Bantams are now 0-5-2 and 0-5-1 with their second tie in three games. The Dutchwomen are 2-9-1 and 2-9-1 and 0-5-1.
Trinity netted their first goal midway through the first period by sophomore forward Lindsay Peet (Stowe, Vt.). Union answered several minutes later with a goal by sophomore forward Cathie Larsen (Dover, Mass.). Two minutes into the third period, freshman forward Samantha Lee (Hartsdale, N.Y.) gave Trinity its second lead of the game on a goal from junior co-captain defense Jessica Martin (Fort Myers, Fla.). Midway through the third period, the Dutchwomen answered again with an unassisted goal by sophomore forward Alisa Cumming (Deerfield, Mass.).
MacKinnon made two game saving stops at the end of the third period to send the contest into overtime. Union freshman goalie Logan Raynor (Anchorage, Alaska) stopped 27 Bantam shots.
