MANHATTANVILLE HANDLES TRINITY WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEYPurchase, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Katie Sahlem (West Seneca, N.Y.) had three goals and three assists to lead the Manhattanville College Valiants to a 14-0 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in Eastern College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey action this evening. Trinity falls to 1-9-2 and 1-7-1 in the ECAC with its second straight loss. The Valiants improve to 7-4-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the league with their first win in the last five games.
Manhattanville outshot Trinity, 85-5, and opened up a 6-0 lead after one period. Freshman forward Melissa Hawkins (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored two goals and assisted on four others, while classmate Amanda Zimecki (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added two goals and two assists for the Valiants.
Freshman Meredith McKinnon (Glen Cove, NY) made a career-high 71 saves for Trinity in net, while sophomore Katie Alexander (Fredericksburg, Va.) needed to make just five saves to record the shutout.
