BEAUDOIN GOAL GIVES HOLY CROSS WIN
OVER TRINITY WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY
West Hartford, Conn. - Freshman forward Rachel Beaudoin (Berlin, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal 6:11 into the third period to lead the visiting College of the Holy Cross Crusaders to a 4-3 win over the Trinity College Bantams in Eastern College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford rink. Trinity falls to 1-14-1 overall and 1-11-1 in the ECAC with its seventh straight loss, while Holy Cross improves to 4-10-1 overall and 2-10-1 in the ECAC.
After a scoreless first period and a half, Trinity senior co-captain forward Vanessa Heaton (Kent, Conn.) gave Trinity a 1-0 lead on a power play goal with 10:57 left in the second stanza. Sophomore forward Lindsay Peet (Stowe, Vt.) followed suit 1:53 later to give the Bantams a 2-0 lead.
Holy Cross answered on consecutive goals by freshman defense Alison Hogan (Belmont, Mass.) and Beadoin to knot the score at 2-2 after two periods. Bantam freshman Jillian Nelsen (Albany, N.Y.), who assisted on Heaton's earlier goal, gave Trinity a 3-2 lead with 16:47 remaining in the game on a pass from Heaton. The Crusaders returned the favor, as Beaudoin assisted freshman forward Elizabeth Campbell (Milton, Mass.) on the game-tying score and Campbell fed Beaudoin on the game-winner.
Freshman goalie Meredith McKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had 23 saves and Holy Cross sophomore goaltender Jenelle DiSanto (North Reading, Mass.) had 26 saves.
