COLGATE SHUTS OUT TRINITY WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY

West Hartford, Conn. - Junior tri-captain forward Heather Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) totaled three goals and one assist in the first period to lead the visiting Colgate University Red Raiders to an 8-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in Eastern College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford rink. Trinity falls to 0-5-1 and 0-5 in the ECAC, while Colgate, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III, improves to 7-4 and 4-1 in the league.

Colgate scored five goals in the first period, including three by Murphy. Junior defense Kelly Roos (Milford, Conn.) and freshman forwards Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, Conn.) and Kara Lisavich (Salem, N.H.) added a goal and two assists apiece for the Red Raiders.

Trinity freshman netminders Mimi MacKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and Blair Kurtz (Encino, Calif.) combined for 56 saves, while Colgate junior goalie Kara Dequine (Aspen, Colo.) stopped eight Bantam shots to record the shutout.
