NELSEN GOAL GIVES TRINITY WOMEN'S
ICE HOCKEY TIE AGAINST AMHERST
West Hartford, Conn. - Freshman Jillian Nelsen (Albany, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-2 stalemate against the visiting Amherst College Lady Jeffs in Eastern College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford rink. Trinity improves their season record to 1-16-3 and 1-13-2 in the ECAC, while Amherst is now 6-12-1 and 5-10-1 in the league.
Amherst scored the first goal of the night netted late in the first period by sophomore forward Danielle Williams (Needham, Mass.). Trinity answered with a goal :45 seconds into the second period by sophomore forward Katelyn Bowman (Summit, N.J.) on an assist by classmate Lindsay Peet (Stowe, Vt.).
Amherst took the lead again six minutes later on a goal by freshman forward Alison White (Brookline, Mass.). Nelsen netted the second Bantam goal at 14:38 of the second period on a feed from senior co-captain forward Vanessa Heaton (Kent, Conn.).
For Trinity, freshman goalie Meredith McKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had 33 saves, and did not allow a goal for the final 39:17. Amherst sophomore goalie Heidi Alexander (Edina, Minn.) made 28 saves.
