WALKER LEADS WESTFIELD WOMEN
TO HOOPS WIN AT TRINITY 

Hartford, Conn.  – Freshman forward Lekeisha Walker (Springfield, Mass.) led all scorers with 21 points, making seven out of nine shots from the field and seven out of eight from the foul line, and added nine boards to lead the visiting Westfield State College Owls to a 67-48 win over the Trinity College Bantams in women’s basketball action this evening at Ray Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity falls to 6-12 and the Owls improve to 14-4 with their fifth straight win.

Trinity sophomore forward Michelle McCaffrey (West Springfield, Mass.) scored a team-high 14 poinst with sex boards, four assists, and three steals, while freshman forward Jen Gargiulo (Boxborough, Mass.) added 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and sophomore center Rebecca Bell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had 10 points and a pair of blocked shots.

Westfield State made 18 out of 21 of its free throws in the game and forced 20 Bantam turnovers.  Junior guard Leslie Cooke (South Hadley, Mass.) tallied 13 points, six assists, and three steals, and sophomore forward Amanda Chapin (Westfield, Mass.) added 11 points and eight boards for the Owls.
