LEWIS LEADS WESLEYAN WOMEN'S
HOOPS TO WIN OVER TRINITY

 

        Hartford, Conn.- Senior co-captain forward Kamica Lewis (Jamiaca Hills, N.Y.) scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 70-54 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s basketball action this evening.  Trinity dropd to 7-13 overall and 1-7 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals, ranked No. 3 in the Northeast and and No. 22 in the nation, improve to 19-3 overall and 6-2 in the league.

Wesleyan pulled away in the latter part of the first half with a 24-8 run.  Trinity sophomore forward Michelle McCaffrey (Westfield, Mass.) had 17 points and classmate Rebecca Bell (Colorado Springs,Colo.) talled a game-high 20 points, including four three-pointers, and six boards.  Freshman forward Jennifer Gargiulo (Boxborough, Mass.) added 14 points for the Bantams.

Trinity will earn its second consecutive bid to the NESCAC Championship Tournament with a win against Connecticut College tomorrow in the regualr season finale at Oosting Gym at 3 p.m., combined with a loss by Amherst at Wesleyan at the same time.
