BANTAMS SNAG LAST PLAYOFF SPOT
WITH WOMEN’S HOOPS WIN OVER CAMELS 

Hartford, Conn.  – Sophomore forward Michelle McCaffrey (West Springfield, Mass.) had a game-high 17 points, sinking eight out of 12 shots from the floor, and added three steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 67-46 win over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s basketball season finale for both teams this afternoon at Ray Oosting Gymnasium. 

Trinity finishes the season with an 8-13 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the NESCAC, qualifying for its second straight NESCAC Championship Tournament.  The Camels finish the year at 4-17 overall and winless in nine league contests.  The Bantams will be the No. 8 seed in the league tourney, and will visit top-seeded Bowdoin in the quarterfinal round on Sat., Feb. 22 at 3 p.m.

The game was never in doubt, as Trinity held the Camels scoreless for the first four minutes of the game, and built leads of 19-4 and 27-8 en route to a 30-12 half time lead.  Sophomore center Rebecca Bell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way with 10 first-half points, and the Bantam defense held Connecticut College to five field goals in 26 attempts and forced 17 turnovers.

Trinity never led by less than 14 points in the second half, winning the game going away despite shooting just 36.2 percent from the field (25-69).  Bell finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three steals, and freshman guard Kerri Stumpo (Walpole, Mass.) came off the bench for nine points and five boards.  Senior forward Margaret Guernsey (Essex, Conn.) was the lone Camel in double figures with 15 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds.
