DEFENSE LEADS WESLEYAN WOMEN’S
HOOPS TO VICTORY AT TRINITY

Hartford, Conn. - Junior guard Shaleen Bowman (Guilford, Conn.) scored a team-high 13 points to lead the visiting Wesleyan University Colonials to a 47-41 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s basketball action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity drops to 12-9 overall and 5-2 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals improve to 14-8 overall and 2-5 in the league.

The Wesleyan defense held Trinity to 28 percent field goal shooting in the game, although the Cardinals shot just 29 percent from the floor. Trinity tied the score at 39-39 late in the game on a fastbreak lay-up by freshman forward Michelle McCaffrey (West Springfield, Mass.), but the Cardinals scored six of the next eight points to seal the win.

Trinity junior center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) paced Trinity with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while McCaffrey added 10 points and nine boards. Sophomore guard Amy Posocco (Willington, Conn.) totaled eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals for Wesleyan.
