TRINITY WOMEN’S HOOPS
DROPS OPENER IN OVERTIME
Trinity, which drops to 0-1, will face Juniata College tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the consolation, while the Panthers, now 1-0, will play the host Swarthmore College Garnet at 4 p.m.
Behing 46-39 at the break, Trinity went on a 18-8 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take the lead, and held the advantage for the rest of regulation. Panther sophomore guard Erica Perry (Center Conway, N.H.) hit three out of four free throws in the final 19 seconds of regulation to force the extra frame.
Trinity had four players score in double figures. Senior forward McKenzie Corby (Bethel, Conn.) finished with 19 points, junior center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds, freshman forward Michelle McCaffrey (West Springfield, Mass.) had 14 points and 14 boards in her collegiate debut, and junior guard Shannon Herold (Downers Grove, Ill.) scored 13 points off the bench.
Albert led a group of four Panthers who scored in double figures -Pelletier with 11 points and six assists, junior forward Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) with 10 points and 11 boards, and senior guard Tammi Waters (Wilmington, Vt.) with 10 points.
