WALSH LEADS COLBY WOMEN'S HOOPS
TO WIN OVER TRINITY

Waterville, Maine - Junior Sarah Walsh (Catonsville, Md.) scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Colby College White Mules to a 56-53 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women’s basketball action this evening. Trinity drops to 12-10 overall and 5-3 in the NESCAC with its second straight loss, while the White Mules improve to 10-13 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Colby controlled the game early on defense, holding the Bantams without a field goal for the first six and a half minutes, and went into intermission with a 27-21 lead. Trinity finally took its first lead of the game, 51-50, with in the final two minutes and extended to 53-50 with under a minute remaining. The White Mule defense stole the ball on consecutive Trinity offensive trips and took the lead back, 54-53, on a fast break lay-up and a free throw. The Bantams had one last chance to take the lead as time ran down, but misfired on two potentially, game-winning shots.

Trinity senior co-captain guard Bridget Dullea (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored a team-high 12 points and added four assists, while senior guard Alison Hadden (Drexel Hill, Pa.) had 11 points, and freshman forward Michelle McCaffrey (West Springfield, Mass.) totaled 11 points and five boards. Junior center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) added eight points and 14 rebounds for the Bantams. Walsh also recorded seven assists and four assists for the White Mules, and sophomore Kate Chuprevich (Monmouth, Maine) scored 10 points. Trinity shot just 33.3 percent from the field.
