SPRINGFIELD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BEATS TRINITY

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore center Janna Dietz (Fogelsville, Pa.) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the visiting Springfield College Pride to a 71-50 win over the Trinity College Bantams in women’s basketball action this evening. Trinity, falls to 2-3 and Springfield improves to 5-1 with its fourth straight victory.

Dietz and helped the Pride build a 34-25 lead at the half with nine points in the opening 20 minutes. She also grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots. Springfield junior guard Katie Strong (Newington, Conn.) added 17 points and six steals, while junior forward Catherine Proto (Bellmore, N.Y.) and junior forward Kelly Thompson (Albany, N.Y.) added 13 points apiece. Proto totaled 11 rebounds and Thompson had seven rebounds for the Pride, who outrebounded Trinity, 34-21.

Junior guard Bridget Dullea (Longmeadow, Mass.) paced Trinity with 16 points and added five rebounds and six assists. Sophomore center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) notched 11 points and six boards.
